Amagami SS+ Plus – Episode 5: Study First, Christmas Later
Sorry for the delay, I’ve been a little too upset to write. I figured doing a little regular writing would keep my mind off things though, so bring forth my favourite heroine of the series, Nanasaki Ai! Here comes Episode 5 of Amagami SS+ Plus!
Cozing up together on a sunset-lit beach. In order to become a respectable upperclassman for Nanasaki, Junichi proclaims his dedication to study hard for university, which is pretty commendable.
The following morning, Nanasaki stops by Junichi’s house to wake him up for school, but like most students he lazes about before tugging poor Nanasaki’s arm to bring her down to his level. At school, Umehara is in a desperate position as he begs his good friend Junichi to find him a girlfriend as well, but that request does end up leaving them in quite the awkward position somehow. I’m just saying, if I saw THAT in my classroom I’d be running for the door.
After his studying, Junichi does what he does best. Well, that would be peeking in on the female swim club, of course. Good ol’ Nanasaki catches him and puts him on the spot in the middle of the swim team itself. I guess she’s got a greater sense of protection now that she’s the captain, but at least Junichi is able to once again weasel his way out of the situation. Oh wait, leave it to little sister Miya to point out everything Junichi did wrong; seems like he’ll be getting that punishment after all.
Nanasaki is disappointed that Junichi peeked in on a poolside filled with girls, but Junichi really did only head there to try and convince Nanasaki to walk home with him after so long. He’s forgiven, but only if he accompanies Nanasaki to her grocery shopping and promises to not watch from the shadows again. Next day, Junichi is laying in the infirmary due to fatigue from late-night studying (they allow infirmary rest for that?) when Nanasaki drops him a visit. Being the king of out-of-this-world requests, Junichi asks if he can lay on Nanasaki’s stomach while she sings him a lullaby. I do have to say, Nanasaki’s little meowing lullaby is just too cute, and Junichi undeniably approves. Later that night, Nanasaki decides to plan for her Christmas Eve with Junichi.
Those plans go down the drain the next morning when Junichi sees his awful mock test had gone badly and he had mistakenly lost a lot of points. Those who fail the mock test are forced to attend a training camp over the winter holidays, which means that Junichi and Nanasaki will be separated this Christmas- how cruel, even for a training camp. Nanasaki decides to take it with a smile and wishes him the best at the training camp, but she later realizes that with the Founder’s Festival coming up, the two will have even less time to meet with each other. With no other choice, Nanasaki prepares an early Christmas present for Junichi and plans to give it to him before he leaves for training.
However, even THAT can’t go without trouble. The people involved with the cram school arrived one night early and took Junichi away before Nanasaki could say goodbye. She walks down the streets which are lit up with Christmas lights, but can’t do anything more than whimper over all that had happened. I hope we see a happy ending next week.
